Ways to Overcome Exam Failure

The West African examination council WAEC reported 58% failure in private candidates’ exams for 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, second series, for private candidates.

Reports of students failing exams is nothing strange in Nigeria. At different level, there are always cases of students failing exams.

There are many factors as to why student sitting for exams fail.  However, there are some reasons that are often ignore but they contribute to exam failures.  

So we will try to share those little ways that if student adopts can help them pass exams.

Here are some of the tips student can adopt and practice to pass exam

Read to understand

Reading is one of the core activities of study. You need to be able to understand what you read and to be able to recall the main ideas when you need them to answer an exam question when in the hall.

Study in group

Get together with friends for a study session. You may have questions that they have the answers to and vice versa. As long as you make sure you stay focused on the topic for an agreed amount of time, this can be one of the most effective ways to challenge yourself.

Read past question papers

One of the most effective ways to prepare for exams is to practice taking past versions. This helps you get used to the format of the questions, It means you can familiarise yourself with the layout and type of questions you will be asked.

Go to the exam hall 30 minutes before the time

Going in to the exam hall early will help you to organize yourself and settle down, calm your mental state so that you don’t panic when the question paper arrives.

These are just some of the ways that one can employ to help one pass an exams.
